League of Legends or LOL (in short) is one of the most popular games in the gaming world.
It has got a huge number of players, which keeps on increasing!
However, when a player plays the game, numerous questions come into the player's mind.
One of the most common questions that come to a LOL player's mind is regarding the data usage of League of Legends.
So, they can't help but wonder, how much internet data does League of Legends use?
On average, League of Legends uses around 40 to 70 MB of internet data per hour which is on par with most of the games similar to it.
The data usage of LOL per hour might vary depending on the game settings used and the voice activity. But, it generally stays under 100 MB per hour.
In this article, I've answered this question in more detail.
I've also answered another related question that comes to a lot of LOL players' minds!
So, without any further ado, let us dive right into it!
Internet Data Usage of League of Legends
To find the actual internet data usage of League of Legends, I did some research.
I asked all of my friends who play the game, to monitor the data usage while playing.
Meanwhile, I've also monitored the data used by the game on my device.
All of us played the game for one hour at a stretch and then, recorded the data usage.
I found out that the data usage of LOL on the different devices was in the range of 45 to 70 MB per hour.
But, in the majority of the devices, the data usage was around 55 MB per hour.
Therefore, we can conclude that the data usage of League of Legends is around 55 MB per hour.
From the data usage per hour of LOL, we can also calculate the data used by it in one week or one month, or even more!
If one plays League of Legends for one hour every day for one week, the total data usage would be around 385 MB in one week.
Similarly, if one plays the game for one hour every day for one month, the total data usage in one month would be around 1.6 GB.
Now, what's the data usage per match in League of Legends?
In LOL, each match lasts for around 20 to 50 minutes.
According to the match duration, the data usage can range from around 15 MB to 60 MB per match.
An important thing to be noted here is that the data usage per match can be more if one uses the voice activity during the match.
In that case, the data usage might be around 100 MB per match.
Now, you might want to know the data used by League of Legends according to the duration for which you have played the game.
To help you figure out the same, I've prepared a table.
I've also done the required math so that you don't have to!
Following is the required table:
Playtime per day | Data usage per day | Data usage per week | Data usage per month |
---|---|---|---|
1 hour | 55 MB | 385 MB | 1.61 GB |
2 hours | 110 MB | 770 MB | 3.22 GB |
3 hours | 165 MB | 1.12 GB | 4.83 GB |
4 hours | 220 MB | 1.5 GB | 6.44 GB |
5 hours | 275 MB | 1.87 GB | 8.05 GB |
6 hours | 330 MB | 2.25 GB | 9.66 GB |
7 hours | 385 MB | 2.63 GB | 11.27 GB |
Note: The data usage per hour of LOL in the above table has been taken as 55 MB.
Does League of Legends use a LOT of internet data?
Compared to most of the other popular games in the gaming market, League of Legends relatively uses a moderate amount of data per hour (around 55 MB).
At the same time, LOL provides a decent gameplay with numerous features.
